Prepping For 2018 + Owning Who You Are
I’ve just recently started incorporating music back into my daily life and I’m so grateful for it because I forgot how much of my creativity comes out when I allow myself to get lost in music.
Since 2018 is right around the corner and I’m starting to think about how I can avoid repeating the same mistakes this coming year, I’ve been taking the time to focus my energy on the things that make me proud of who I am.
Do you ever think about what makes you unique or special or what makes you stand out?
This is a loaded question…I know. Being different sometimes means being weird and standing out sometimes turns into feeling lonely; like it’s hard to find someone to relate to and I can completely understand that. Although we live in a generation where we’re encouraged to embrace our differences and take pride in our uniqueness, it’s still extremely difficult to really own that and run with it.
My main goal for the new year is to focus on this creative space/blog that I’ve created for myself and for you, my readers. As much as I try to fight it, I can’t deny that I am a creator and an uplifter of people. What makes me unique, special, and ultimately what makes me stand out above the rest is my ability to think outside the box, my love for helping others and my ability to turn an idea into reality.
January 1, 2018 is less about focusing on specific goals for the new year but rather for coming to terms with the gifts and talents God has given me; finally owning who and what I am in Christ and having faith in my ability to truly #WalkTheTalk. I don’t want to write and/or talk about following your dreams and how you can lead a fulfilling and stress-free life if I’m not going to practice what I preach.
After all, we can’t help others if we don’t deal with helping ourselves first. I challenge you to keep that in mind over the next few weeks before 2018 hits…how are you going to make 2018 your best year yet?
Stay tuned for my next post!
