Archives for January 2018

I’m almost positive we’ve all heard about Pinterest at this point in our lives and if you haven’t…say, WA?! At first Pinterest was a site for me to look at pretty pictures all day, I’m not kidding I would spend HOURS on that thing and then I decided to create an account so I didn’t have to save every single photo on my laptop anymore…I was running out of space! And now, Pinterest is my daily source of inspiration and my one-stop shop for lifestyle inspo! The thing I love the most about Pinterest is that there is something for absolutely every single person out there. It’s not specifically targeted to women as many may believe, there’s something for men, teens, seniors etc – I remember the first time I introduced my husband to Pinterest he spent a solid hour scrolling and scrolling and scrolling. (for him, that’s huge) It’s quite fascinating that you can literally find whatever you need on one social media platform and it’s a collaborated effort from everyone around the world. #OBSESSED.

Pinterest helped me immensely when I was planning my wedding, planning a décor theme for our condo and looking for inspiration for my blog content among many other things. I’ve learned a lot because of it and it’s the main driver behind my remaining inspired to do better, getting excited to try new things, creating more appealing content and frankly, checking out what the competition is like out there so I can set myself apart from the rest. Ohhh…SHOTS FIRED. Just kidding, I’m a bit hyper. Anyway, if you haven’t checked out my Pinterest page yet…have a gander! I’ve also listed my Pinterest boards below; I’ve grouped them into the life categories that apply to my everyday life and I’m slowly working on further defining my boards to make them even easier to navigate for all my readers. Pinterest is a great way to combine all your sources of inspiration into one online platform; it allows you to upload photos and videos from other websites to even better customize your page to your liking and it’ll give you a quick motivation boost when you’re feeling less creative and/or need new ideas. At the end of the day, you can just consider it as your very own dungeon of all things fabulous.

If you’re not on Pinterest yet, get ON IT! It’s definitely a life changer.

I’ve been blogging for almost a year now and I’m still just as excited about this digital space I’ve created as the day I hit ‘Publish’ for the first time. This year, I’m making a pretty solid list of the goals I have for #WalkTheTalkBlog to help me get and stay focused and most importantly, stay accountable. Here goes:

  1. Be Consistent – we’ve all heard the “consistency is key” saying, but really….CONSISTENCY IS KEY. I’m committing myself to posting Monday & Wednesday of every week!
  2. Be Intentional – always ask myself “what’s in it for my readers?” when I’m writing a post to make sure my audience is getting something valuable out of my content.
  3. Make Time – treat this blog as a business; make the time to plan my content, take photos, edit photos and proofread. The more organized I am the better content I’ll create.
  4. Educate Myself – when it comes to effective social media marketing, photography, videography, SEO and the tech side of blogging, I can’t say I’m the most knowledgeable person out there but I do know a lil somem somem and it’s time to put it to the test!
  5. Define my Brand – I don’t just want to be another blogger, I want to help people lead the best life they can lead by showcasing how I Walk The Talk and by helping my readers make sure they Walk The Talk as well no matter their circumstance.

If you’ve started a new hobby this year or a business, I highly recommend setting goals for it; reflect on what you’re trying to achieve and why, then you’ll be in a better position to know what steps you need to take to get where you want to be.

5 Ways To Enjoy Winter

  1. Take part in a winter sporting activity like skating, snowboarding or skiing; it’s a great way to stay active during the winter months.
  2. Make your way to a local winter festival or event; just because it’s winter it doesn’t mean that you can’t get involved in local city events and have fun while doing it.
  3. Grab a beaver tail and visit a new cool coffee shop for a latte or an extra warm cup of hot coco. (for my foodies out there)
  4. Don’t stop going for walks! The outdoors and it’s therapeutic ability to make you feel rejuvenated doesn’t stop because it’s cold out; the cold and fresh air is good for you but mind you, if it’s -40…stay inside!
  5. Purchase one or two cute winter accessories like a cute hat, scarf or mittens that will make you feel a bit more stylish and less of a marshmallow when you’re out in your parka.

All in all, I know being outside when it’s cold is not pleasant but there’s always a way to have fun and make the best out of these colder months. So…get out there, have fun but stay safe and listen to your local news channel for your cold weather warnings and snowstorm alerts.
