CONDO MOOD BOARD

It’s really starting to sink in for my fiancé and I that we’re finally going to be living together and having a place to call our own. A place where we can establish our own lifestyle, start some fun traditions and combine our home decor styles. Luckily, we have very similar tastes when it comes to decor so it’s making this process very easy and enjoyable.

Before I created our ‘Condo Mood Board’ it was important to find some inspo photos to get a better sense of how to mix and match the styles we want. Soft + Modern…with a Scandinavian twist is a perfect way to describe it.

One thing that really attracted us to our condo was the windows and natural lighting, it makes the space look bigger and brighter! We’re sticking with a soft colour palette and adding a modern twist to it. Lots of greys, whites and a touch of black here and there. My fiancé loves plants and as you know I love flowers…so we’re going to incorporate these throughout as well as add some wall art and photo frames to personalize our place a little more.

A little something like this…

I’m really looking forward to switching up our decor for every season and holiday so stay tuned for my upcoming home decor series launching on the blog in Fall 2017.

We’re SO incredibly excited to make this condo our home. 🙂

Stay tuned for my next post!

Why I Don’t Take Myself Too Seriously

I used to be the person who wasn’t always able to take a joke; I used to get really embarrassed if I had something stuck in my teeth and someone pointed it out, if my jeans weren’t cuffed perfectly or if I wasn’t wearing the most stylish outfit when I stepped out to run errands. It made me really tense and on guard all the time. I don’t know when it happened but I decided that I needed to stop the nonsense, it was taking away too much joy in my life.

I’m not saying I don’t have moments where I get embarrassed, tense, or anxious. I do. The difference now is how quickly I’m able to shake it off, some days are harder than others and that’s okay. I make a constant effort to put myself in uncomfortable or silly situations so I can get used to the idea that people are watching me. Luckily, there are moments when I actually stop noticing that people are watching and that’s when I feel the most free.

I started taking the following 5 steps to help me get through this process, I think you would find them helpful:

  1. Laugh at yourself if you do something silly…it’s ok, you’re not perfect.
  2. Ignore and walk away from unnecessary comments, they’re never worth it.
  3. Make it a mental note to remember that what people think and/or might  think is irrelevant.
  4. Be the centre of attention…in a good way. Force yourself to get used to the feeling of having all eyes on you so when something ’embarrassing’ happens in front of others…it won’t matter as much.
  5. Surround yourself with people who accept you for who you are, then you won’t feel like you’re being judged if they give you a heads up about a piece of food stuck in your teeth or throw you a piece of gum when you really need it.

All in all, I’m happy with and I love my crazy, bubbly, pensive, sensitive, and imperfect self. 🙂

How about you? Do you ever feel like you take yourself too seriously?
